University of Georgia (UGA) researchers developed a series of artificial soil mixtures mimicking the topsoil of Mars. These substitute samples of Martian regolith were composed of mixtures of soil, clay, salts, and other components readily available on the surface of Mars. Investigators examined these the samples, exploring how fertile the ruddy surface of Mars might be. “Simulating the mineral makeup or salt content of these Martian mixtures can tell us a lot about the potential fertility of the soil....

According to a report from Bloomberg, Clubhouse wants to start new funding round, with the firm valued at $4 billion. In January, the live audio platform raised $100 million in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz;the VC giant had valued the app at $1 billion at that time. The new round might quadruple the net worth of the company. Bloomberg noted that it’s not clear how much money the company wants to raise at the moment, so terms of the deal and final valuation could change....

The lawsuit follows action by the Cupertino-based company in the US, accusing Samsung of copying the design and packing of its iPhone and iPad devices. The Korean vendor replied by issuing patent suits of its own in South Korea, Japan and Germany, a reversal of Apple’s case by accusing the it of violating its patents in producing the iPhone and iPad. Samsung filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Court over alleged patent infringement of five patents, issuing a complaint over two patents in Tokyo, Japan and three violations in Mannheim, Germany....

Unfortunately, it’s not via Apple — AirPower is still canceled. Instead, The Verge was able to access images of an AirPower prototype, courtesy of developer and Apple prototype collector Giulio Zompetti. It’s a glance at a dream that never was. Zompetti said he was able to buy the prototype — which is missing its outer shell but is otherwise functional — from e-waste sources in China. The device features a “heavy” metal chassis, and packed 22 charging coils into a tight space, with 22 controllers to match on the bottom of the device....

According to a Binance blog post, the firm had been unknowingly receiving dividends for validating transactions on the Stellar network since August 31 2018. “Fast forward to this week, when we looked into the staking of Stellar for Binance.com, we discovered that we had already earned 9,500,000 XLM ($775,000 USD) worth of extra XLM tokens,” said Binance. Binance further claimed it had followed Stellar’s advice to change certain settings on its hot and cold cryptocurrency wallets....
